We have regular opportunities for volunteers in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.

If you don’t live in one of these cities, you can still sign up for action alerts and updates – we often take action in different parts of the country and may need your help. We suggest visiting this website regularly to read our blog postings, check our events calendar and connect with others by participating in our volunteer forums.

We thank you for your support and hope to see you soon!

Ottawa

On December 7, 2009, the first day of the crucial UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, Greenpeace Canada climb teams hung large banners on the south wall of the west block of the Canadian parliament buildings that read, “Harper/Ignatieff: Climate Inaction Costs Lives“. The team of 5 that Glenn (from ecoSanity) volunteered to participate with put up a smaller, tar sands banner above the entrance on the east wing of the main block. National press ensued.

Glenn was honoured to have been involved with so many extraordinary people. They all deserve to be commended for their astounding dedication, preparation, implementation; for the risks undertaken; and for the individual sacrifices made in order to carry out this essential action.

TAKE ACTION: Call Shell Canada’s Ken Zaitsoff and tell him No Thanks on more Insitu Tar Sands!

Shell Canada has re-submitted an application for an Insitu-Tar Sands project in the Peace River area as part of their Carmon Creek (Peace River) expansion. It's an in situ project using a variation of Cyclic Steam Stimulation, which is one of the most energy intensive methods out there. This project will still devastate underground aquifers, fragment the ecosystems and produce tons of green house gas emissions.
